The Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (IMD) will host a European wide working conference entitled Enhancing the European Profile in Democracy Assistance, taking place in The Hague on July 4 – 6th, 2004.
The conference will occur parallel to the Dutch Presidency of the European Union. The conference has been prepared in cooperation with the Westminster Foundation for Democracy, the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, the Centre Party International Foundation and the Fondation Jean-Jaurès in coordination with other political party foundations throughout Europe.
The conference will be opened by the Dutch Prime Minister and from the first of July on the President of the Council of the European Union, His Excellency Mr Jan Peter Balkenende. The opening will take place at the Peace Palace in The Hague. In addition, guest speakers are, amongst others, Lord Ralf Dahrendorf, Ms. Mamphela Ramphele and Ms. Madeleine Albright.
